My second CD which was originally released in 2002. The original CD featured all the individual tracks connected together to form one piece of music designed to be listened to end to end. Some tracks were seamlessly crossfaded into one another, while others had small sections of ambient sounds to act as a segue. For this re-release I have taken the original master recordings of each track and presented them as individual tracks as befits Bandcamp's delivery system. I think I prefer it this way now too.

Like Drumlin, all bar one of the tracks were recorded direct to two track while the instruments were being played by me and a huge amount of midi data sent from my Atari computer running Steinberg's Cubase 3. Any vocal work would have been pre-recorded into my Akai S-01 sampler and triggered over midi.

Only Drone was recorded using a multitrack recorder, an Akai DPS-12. Indeed, Drone was done as an exercise in multitracking audio. As it happens I never really gelled with the idea of having midi sequencing and audio tracks in separate machines so I sold the DPS12 and bought a much bigger and more comprehensive sampler, E-Mu E6400 Ultra. Now that was a machine.

And in case you're wondering, it's pronounced Arcsine, as in the mathematical function. Yeah, I know...

During the 1980s Tony played keyboards in a variety of bands including 'Cairo' and 'Not Before Time'. In 1986 he started producing his own synthesizer instrumental music under the name 'Takla Makan'.
